After the rest period in Europe, the footballing world has come alive once again.  The summer transfer window is open and as is to be expected, clubs have started exerting their influence and flexing their muscles in a bid to get the right players to help their cause.

All the talk about this player moving here and there would now be put to the test. All things being equal, by 31st July, all the rumours would be put to rest.

Bernardo Silva, moved from Monaco to Manchester City

Meanwhile, the time to move, push and shove us here.  Manchester City set the ball rolling before even the window was open with the signings of Berbardo Silva for 43.6m pounds from Monaco and goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica for 35m pounds.

But since the transfer window was opened, City has been quiet on the market and it’s not clear whether they have finished with their transfer business for this year. This is especially so following rumours of Dani Alves joining very soon and a certain Alexis Sanchez waiting I the wings.

So far, Chelsea have been left in a quandary as so far, they have been able to sign City reject Willy Caballero. Having told the whole world that Diego Costa was not needed any more at the club, most of the club’s fans waited for the capture of Romelu Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku, Man United’s latest acquisition

However, this wasn’t to be as Manchester United have signed the player. It’s not too clear who the club would focus on to lead the attack and to replace Costa. The chase for Rudiger, Sandro and Bakayako also continues with nothing concrete to show for.

The signs are that the clubs are by no means finished as they need to strengthen both defensively and offensively in order to make inroads in the Champions League.

A lot is expected to change at Man United especially with respect to the defence this year. Wayne Rooney is expected to leave and reports have it that he has already had his medicals at Everton having become surplus to requirement at the club.

Arsenal has managed to sign on Lyon attacker Lacazate opening the window for Olivier Giroud to move out. It’s also early in the day to know whether Alexis Sanchez, the club’s talisman, having shown signs that he is looking for prospects elsewhere, would stay or depart.

We are a long way to the closure of the window and it’s expected that between now and the end of the month, a lot of movement of players would take place.

In Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all yet to make any forays in the transfer market.  It would however, be known before long who they would it for.

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in France and German champions Bayern Munich are also yet to make their moves in the transfer market.

Who is your team going for and who would be leaving?  Keep your fingers crossed as the clubs strive against all the odds to sign the best players to help their cause.
